MainLine
Mainline takes a deeper look into the essential railway systems and concepts you will encounter as a driver. We will explore the different rail safety systems, standards and procedures that you will follow. About the Facilitator
PreTrain was conceptualised, designed and delivered by Hamish Withington. Hamish is an Australian rail industry professional with a diverse and comprehensive background in railway operations.
He has over 20 years experience in many roles across the operational railway - including service delivery supervisor, locomotive driver, driver trainer, depot supervisor, regional operations manager, state operations manager, operations superintendent, qualified lead incident investigator and more in the freight, heavy haul, passenger and heritage sectors, with an emphasis on driver training & development.

As a qualified locomotive driver trainer & assessor, with a background in driving & training on freight, heavy haul, suburban and regional rail operations across all eastern states of Australia, he now presents PreTrain - a first of its kind approach to helping people from outside of the industry prepare for the application, selection, recruitment, training and qualification processes that lay ahead of new applicants from outside of the industry.
Hamish has created PreTrain completely independently based on his two decades of experience, and seeks to support, encourage and inspire new entrants to the rail industry.
